Many teachers feel a sense of trepidation when approaching primary source materials in the Orff Schulwerk, unsure of how to translate them into engaging, student-centered lessons.
This webinar addresses that challenge by breaking down the Rhythmische Übung and revealing the wide range of possibilities embedded within these foundational sources. We will explore how simple rhythmic ideas can serve as an entry point, gradually expanding into more complex, improvisatory lesson experiences. By unpacking the processes inherent in Orff Schulwerk, we demonstrate how primary materials can come to life through speech, movement, and music-making.
The session highlights practical ways to connect these processes to classroom activities that feel both accessible and creative. You will see how literature, body percussion, and instruments can be woven together to deepen student understanding. Emphasis is placed on exploration and play, encouraging both teachers and students to take risks within a supportive framework. The approach fosters not only musical skill development but also creativity through improvisation and composition.
This webinar will empower you to move beyond hesitation and confidently use primary sources as a springboard for dynamic, student-driven learning. You'll receive lesson resources from the RU, created and used with our students, and you'll be emboldened to create engaging materials for your own students.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email that includes the link to the live event. The Zoom link can also be found in your online library. And in the days following the event, the webinar recording and downloadable materials will be added to your online library.
Upon completion, you may request a certificate of completion for 1.5 hours of professional development by emailing our team at hello@teachingwithorff.com
