WEBINAR RECORDING

Elemental Illuminations invites you to explore creative ways to integrate music, movement, mindfulness, and science in your elementary music classroom, using the phases of the moon as your guiding theme. In this inspiring session, Drue Bullington and Crystal Pridmore will show you how to bring joy, creativity, and self-care into your teaching while helping your students build musical skills and meaningful connections.

Highlights:

  • Discover mindfulness exercises that promote your students' well-being as well as your own.
  • Learn to use storytelling and improvisation inspired by The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse by Charlie Mackesy.
  • Engage your students with movement activities that embody the moon’s phases.
  • Explore rhythm and drumming games connected to lunar cycles.
  • Guide your students in creating "lune" poems tied to their birth moons.
  • Build collaborative ensemble pieces using barred instruments, ukuleles, drumming, and student-created rhythms.
  • Get practical strategies to adapt these lessons across age groups, from kindergarten to sixth grade.
  • Rethink lesson planning as a compassionate, flexible process that nurtures both you and your students.
  • Throughout the session, Drue and Crystal encourage you to embrace the cycles of teaching, the importance of self-kindness, and the shared joy of musical exploration.
